1966 Fender Jaguar

1967 Fender Jaguar with neck date of late '66. I bought this from ATB guitars.

This is a 1967 fender Jaguar in a very faded Lake Placid Blue. You can see the original unfaded colour under the pickguard in the gallery and it has heavy checking all over and some paint cracking off the lower section.

I like to think it is a survivor of a helicopter crash in Vietnam. It's seen stuff, man. And things...

Post CBS with F plate, block inlays and binding, the neck is unusual as it is quite Gibson like in its large rounded C shape.

Sold as a 1966, I discovered that the guitar is actually from 1967 when the neck pickup died and I had to repair a cracked solder joint. The pickup is dated '67.

I popped in some new foam under the pickup too as the original looked like a mummified cat's paw.

This might be the best sounding Jaguar I have played to be honest and it has had the Staytrem treatment for reasons of playability. A vintage mute was purchased and foam added and has had some fret work done too in addition to a new nut.

Gut shots and all the pro quality photos courtesy of ATB. Thanks Mike!

So it was up for sale for a month. I had trade offers and expressions of interest but no finger pressed the 'buy now' button.

Thank goodness in retrospect as I would have been duty bound to pack it up and ship it. I have removed it from sale as I have decided to keep it. Money is money but a 1966 Jag as cool as this doesn't come along that often.

I suppose the truths are that people have no money in the UK. We have been squeezed almost dry by our failing government and taxed almost beyond our means, so no-one has the money for fripperies like vintage Fender Jaguars. Fair enough.

However, those who watch and wait hoping to see some rapid descent down to some bargain basement level lose out. I was never going to sell below £7.5k and, looking back, I should have priced it way higher.
