If you love the searing lead tones of a Les Paul through a cranked Plexi™ (and who doesn't) you may not 'get' the Fender Jaguar. It may not be the most obvious choice and so many have been set up by people who don't know how to set one up but believe me, you need a Jaguar in your life.

I have 5 now!

The latest addition is a beautiful candy apple red '65 as seen above amongst its new pals and some crudely pasted in black Jaguars.

I did a big and possibly overly long shootout video where I compare all the guitars in the 4 main pickup combinations:

Neck Pickup

Both together

Bridge Pickup

Rhythm Circuit (Neck pickup with more mellow sound)

The guitars are my 1962 sunburst slab board, an Olympic White '65, a black '65, the new candy apple red '65 and my '67 just post CBS block and binding model.

I recorded these into my Two Rock Classic Reverb with onboard reverb and did it as all guitars on each pickup in turn with timestamps in the video for easier comparison.

I also do a wee spiel about each and at the end I do another section where I play some more single note based stuff with each guitar played in turn and ordered by pickup selection. It's long winded for sure and I lost track of time as it was a lot of fun to do.

Check out the video below in 1080p and I hope you can hear what a great unique guitar the Jaguar is and that it isn't what you may be lead to believe about it: a 'surf' guitar or an 'indie' guitar.

It can be be either but so can a Les Paul.

A Jaguar has a sublime tremolo which is the best design ever - after of course some adjustments are made courtesy of Staytrem!

Hope you enjoy...

I recorded it all into one amplifier: a Two Rock Classic Reverb with a bit of reverb and plugged each guitar straight in. I had two microphones on the lower of the two Two Rock 12" speakers in the cab, a Rode NT1-A and an SM57. Those went into a Presonus Studio68C and into Studio One and I edited with Vegas Pro with no plugins or other funny stuff so it's as pure as I could make it.
